Date: 26. January 2026Time: 15:00 – 21:00

The Chair of English Cultural and Literary Studies is delighted to welcome Leighton Williams from the University of Otago as a guest researcher and lecturer, who is coming all the way from Dunedin, New Zealand. He will be with us on Monday, 26.01.2026, to teach several classes and meet staff and students from FAU.

Williams is an Indigenous Studies scholar focusing on Maori culture, which he explores, among other things, through questions raised by Queer Theory, Postcolonial Studies and Pedagogy – as well as their intersections. At our institute he will host a session in Lou Pfeiffer’s seminar on “Introducing Indigeneity, Indigenous Studies and their Ongoing Discourse” (26.01.2026, 2-4 pm, KH 0.023), for which you can register via e-mail (lou.br.pfeiffer@fau.de). Furthermore, he will give an evening lecture on “Unsettling English: Land, Sea and Indigenous Literary Form in New Zealand and the Pacific” (26.01.2026, 6-8 pm, C301) in Prof. Dr. Claudia Lillge’s class. The evening lecture is open to everyone.

If you have any further questions, you can e-mail Lou Pfeiffer (lou.br.pfeiffer@fau.de).
