At this year’s dissertation awards ceremony of the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology, two English and American Studies alumni were honored for their excellent theses. Felix Geißler took home the Fritz und Maria Hofmann-Preis for his Zulassungsarbeit (teaching degree thesis) entitled “Holocaust Remembrance: Aspects of Memory in Anne Michaels’ Fugitive Pieces, Rachel Seiffert’s The Dark Room and Eve Figes’ Little Eden: A Child at War,” and Cedric Essi received the Lilli Bechmann-Rahn-Preis for his outstanding PhD thesis on “Interracial Family Memoirs: Claiming Genealogies across the Color Line.” Congratulations to both honorees!
