Content
Julian Barnes is one of the most renowned writers of contemporary literature. In this seminar we will study his novels |A History of The World in 10 ½ Chapters| (1989) (selections), |Flaubert's Parrot| (1984), |England, England| (1998) and |The Sense of an Ending| (2011); we will also analyse |Nothing To Be Frightened Of| (2008) and |Levels of Life| (2013) and some selected short stories. Since Barnes is looked upon as a representative of 'moderate English postmodernism', participants of this seminar should be interested contemporary literary theory.
