About me

I am a general linguist with a focus on language typology and usage-based approaches to language. Currently, I am working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Language and Cognition at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. The overall research questions of our project are concerned with individual differences. I am currently examining the influence of literacy and written language on grammar, addressing the question from two different pespectives: On the one hand, I am looking at the influence of experience with written language on the individual level using behavioral methods. On the other hand, I use typological and corpus-based approaches to investigate the influence of literacy on a larger scale, leading to systematic differences of written vs. spoken language within single languages as well as to structural differences between languages with and without a literacy tradition.
